ASO.dev vs FoxData in 2026: mobile intelligence or ASO execution
We are the ASO.dev team, comparing our own product with FoxData. We have a commercial interest in your choice, so we explicitly show where FoxData is stronger than us and treat an unconfirmed capability as unknown rather than absent.
FoxData facts were checked against official materials on August 2, 2026. Data about Apple Ads in ASO.dev was updated on August 7, 2026.

The main difference
Section titled “The main difference”FoxData is a modular mobile market intelligence platform, not merely a keyword tracker. It answers questions about a niche’s attractiveness, estimated competitor revenue, audience, retention, ad creatives, and recurring review themes.
Our approach starts where those findings need to become work. In ASO.dev, a specialist moves a hypothesis into the App Store Connect and Google Play Console editors, checks the result, and takes the change through to the store.
Where FoxData is stronger
Section titled “Where FoxData is stronger”- Market and competitor estimates. FoxData models downloads and revenue and compares categories, regions, and developers. These figures are useful for evaluating a niche, but they are not a competitor’s actual reporting.
- Audience and retention. IQ modules plus active-user, retention, and demographic data help a team choose a market and segment. Availability depends on the module and plan.
- Review intelligence. FoxData combines sentiment, topics, User Profile, and AI Review Summary. We offer fewer ready-made reputation dashboards and reply templates.
- Two stores and a REST API. Keyword Explore covers the App Store and Google Play, while a separate API returns iOS and Android data as JSON. ASO.dev’s broad keyword research is currently focused on the App Store, and our Developer API remains a closed alpha.
- Some store operations. FoxData confirms direct review replies after a store connection. We did not find a documented end-to-end path from localized metadata and PPO through release and TestFlight in its official materials.
Where ASO.dev is stronger
Section titled “Where ASO.dev is stronger”- Broad research. ASO tools and Tasks do not require a new slot for every additional app, keyword list, or competitor. History and automated reports still depend on the plan and their own limits.
- Large working datasets. The desktop client loads a large table into one working view, while App Clash exports results to Excel on Pro and above. Individual reports have limits, and MCP does not replace bulk keyword export.
- Localization and publishing. Bulk Editor works with 50 localizations, and the Figma plugin connects text with visual assets. The team reviews translations and media; submission to App Review remains an explicit action.
- Review operations. In App Store Reviews, you can prepare and submit a reply, while the local MCP requires write confirmation. This is controlled execution, not a server-side autopilot for every event.
- Apple Ads context. Ads by Keyword and Ads by App connect keywords, advertisers, creatives, and CPPs. The data does not provide conversion attribution or prove greater coverage without a shared methodology.
One job in two products
Section titled “One job in two products”Consider a portfolio of 10 apps, one specialist, up to five storefronts per app, five competitors, monthly metadata and release updates, and a quarterly reviews → feature → screenshots/PPO cycle. This is not a calendar plan; it is a decision sequence from evidence to the next product version.
1. A testable hypothesis
Section titled “1. A testable hypothesis”In FoxData, the team compares category trends, estimated downloads and revenue, IQ modules, audience, and retention. Keyword Explore adds Search Volume, Opportunity, Difficulty, Correlation, and Install Estimate, along with category and long-tail discovery, AI recommendations, and Keyword DNA.
Live Search shows the current App Store or Google Play results, while Review Summary helps reveal a recurring problem. A person still needs to inspect the source reviews and validate the product hypothesis: a proprietary metric or growth near a release does not prove causation.
2. Competitors and keywords
Section titled “2. Competitors and keywords”ASO.dev builds the working set with Keyword Explorer and Competitor Keywords. Other tools test the hypothesis from different angles:
- App Competitors and App Clash compare apps and intersections;
- Top by Keyword and Changelog show search results and change history;
- SAP Detector adds search-popularity context.
One-click Tasks remove the manual work of finding an initial competitor set and up to 20,000 organic keyword candidates.
Selected keywords can be pasted into a Keyword List as a comma-separated or line-separated batch, while competitors can be added to the project. A large result set loads into one virtualized working view where it can be filtered, sorted, selected, and exported without manually assembling a file from pages of 50–100 rows.
This is not a promise that pagination never exists anywhere in the product: Reviews, TestFlight, and external Apple and Google APIs may load additional pages. On Pro and above, app analysis and competitor-intersection exports can contain more than 20,000 rows, but individual reports retain their own limits.
3. Reviews and replies
Section titled “3. Reviews and replies”FoxData is stronger in ready-made sentiment and topic dashboards, User Profile, AI Review Summary, AI Quick Reply, and templates. ASO.dev has less preconfigured reputation intelligence, but a discovered theme can move into a controlled reply workflow and a product hypothesis.
An ASO.dev Subscription tracks new reviews for the selected app, country, and event. The result remains in Notifications and is delivered through push or, on Pro/Marketing, a webhook.
The Reviews interface shows the rating, country, reply status, and whether a review changed after the reply.
Google Play uses a separate reviews screen with direct reply submission through a connected service account.
A single AI draft and a user-triggered batch use the provider selected by the user under a BYOK model. A person starts the batch; it is not an always-on server autopilot. The local MCP reads the current card or loaded list and, after confirmApply=true, submits or edits replies in the App Store and Google Play.
Store credentials remain in secure storage on the device, and the request goes directly to Apple or Google, or through a proxy selected by the user. For a full archive, the correct path is a CSV/Excel export, an external AI model, and human validation of the themes; MCP does not automatically see the complete archive.
| Review task | FoxData | ASO.dev |
|---|---|---|
| Analysis | Sentiment, topics, User Profile | Filters, translation, export, external AI |
| Replies | App Store and Google Play after connection | UI and local MCP |
| AI and batch work | AI Quick Reply and templates; batch details are unknown | BYOK; the user starts the batch |
| Autonomous event replies | Not publicly confirmed | No server-side autopilot |
4. Localization and release
Section titled “4. Localization and release”After a product change comes work that an intelligence dashboard does not perform by itself. Bulk Editor and cross-localization translate, edit, and validate metadata for 50 App Store localizations.
The production workflow has three parts:
- the Figma plugin exports text while preserving Auto Layout, Variables, and RTL;
- folder import places images and videos by locale and device;
- CPP and PPO reuse the localized assets for pages and test variants.
FoxData helps find the idea; we help deploy it across supported App Store localizations and take it to App Store Connect. This is not an autopilot: the team reviews translations and visual assets, explicitly saves changes, and submits them for review; PPO icon variants must already be included in the binary.
5. Apple Ads intelligence
Section titled “5. Apple Ads intelligence”ASO.dev Marketing covers the same competitive workflow for which a team might consider FoxData Ad Intelligence.
Ads by Keyword shows advertisers and media, while Ads by App shows an app’s advertising keywords, creatives, and CPPs.
According to ASO.dev data as of August 7, 2026, the system performs about 160 million search-query checks per day.
That is the number of checks, not 160 million unique query texts. Live Search and user SOV observations are not included. We found no comparable official daily FoxData figure, so we do not call either product the “widest” without a shared counting methodology.
ASO.dev tracks Search Results Ads 1 and Ads 2. Ads 2 is the second ad slot and the third overall position, not support for every Apple Ads placement. For a selected creative or CPP, the backend returns up to 5,000 related queries without conversion attribution.
One SOV subscription provides 200 tracked keyword-and-country combinations. Checks are scheduled about every seven minutes; the service stores the history and the check timestamp.
A separate automatic pool of about 45,000 queries with average SAP 60+ must not be equated with that seven-minute frequency.
FoxData remains stronger in broad mobile market intelligence. But its Ad Intelligence cannot be considered broader merely because it is sold as a separate module: the products cover comparable work around ad keywords, advertisers, creatives, and CPPs, and there is no independent coverage measurement.
Pricing for 10 apps
Section titled “Pricing for 10 apps”Total cost of ownership, or TCO, depends not only on the plan price but also on the apps, keywords, countries, modules, and seats the team needs.
| Workload, 1 specialist | FoxData | ASO.dev |
|---|---|---|
| Light: 10 × 50 = 500 pairs | Standard: $59/month or $602/year; 10 apps, 500 keywords, 50 competitors | Pro: $89/month or $828/year; Startup at $348/year is the lower bound |
| Full: 10 × 200 = 2,000 pairs | Growth: $159/month or $1,622/year, but only 1,500 keywords; use Enterprise or reduce scope | Pro: $828/year for one seat; apps and core lists do not change the price |
For a working portfolio, Pro is the realistic baseline not because of the app count, but for exports, CPP, App Clash, Changelog, and extended history. That is about $6.90 per app per month with annual billing and one specialist, but it is not a per-app price. Additional specialists require additional seats.
Startup at $348 per year is the lower bound if 30 days of history are enough and exports, CPP, and the professional Pro workflows are not required. If Apple Ads is the main use case, Marketing is required at $199 per month or $1,788 per year; it includes Pro.
For Growth, we use the newer official guide with limits of 20 apps, 1,500 keywords, and 200 competitors. An older comparison page showed 40 / 4,000 / 400 before the plan restructuring, so we did not use it in the calculation.
MCP, API, and exports
Section titled “MCP, API, and exports”FoxData has a confirmed REST API that returns JSON, uses an x-openapi-key, and documents per-second request limits, response prices, and next-page pagination. Small costs $59 for 75,000 non-expiring credits; Medium costs $199 for 350,000.
As of August 2, 2026, we could not confirm an official FoxData MCP server, its transport, authentication, status, or quotas. REST/OpenAPI does not become MCP merely because an agent can call it.
The local ASO.dev MCP works with the current workspace and editor, is not a bulk keyword endpoint, and does not consume Developer API credits. Large datasets are exported to Excel on Pro and above. The external language model is billed separately, while the closed Developer API alpha uses its own credits for scheduled server-to-server workflows.
| Question | FoxData | ASO.dev |
|---|---|---|
| Official MCP | Could not be confirmed | Local MCP for the editor and reviews |
| 20,000+ keywords for one app | Conditionally via API: up to 500 rows/page | Excel on Pro+; one-click Task capped at 20,000 |
| 20,000+ rows across several apps | Raw export not confirmed | Competitor-intersection export |
| Cost of machine access | REST API consumes prepaid credits | Export uses no credits; Developer API is separate |
| Practical AI route | REST → JSON/file → external model | Export → external model → local MCP |
If FoxData API 1011 returns a sufficient totalCount, 20,000 rows for one app require more than 40 pages at 500 rows each. A UI file and a 20,000+ raw-row export from multi-app analysis are not officially confirmed.
In ASO.dev, the recommended route without an API call for every row is: Excel export → cleanup, clustering, and gap analysis in Codex, ChatGPT, or Claude → human review → local MCP for metadata, localization, and confirmed actions.
When both make sense
Section titled “When both make sense”In our experience, professional ASO teams often use several data sources. This makes sense when the FoxData signal actually affects a decision rather than being purchased “just in case.”
An economical workflow has three steps:
- Keep priority apps, markets, and a short keyword list in FoxData—only the scope needed for the relevant estimates, IQ, or audience analysis.
- Export selected hypotheses when the plan permits it, or transfer them manually. Keywords can be pasted in bulk into an ASO.dev Keyword List, and competitors can be added to the project.
- Use ASO.dev as the working hub for broad tracking, history, Tasks, Subscriptions, localization, reviews, CPP/PPO, and the next release across the portfolio.
We do not promise automatic two-way synchronization or import of FoxData’s proprietary metrics. ASO.dev alone is sufficient for many teams; the combined stack is justified when FoxData’s market estimates, audience, or retention data are genuinely needed.
- Does FoxData show competitors’ actual downloads and revenue? No. These are modeled estimates: useful comparison benchmarks, but not a competitor’s internal reporting.
- Does ASO.dev replace FoxData’s market intelligence? No. We do not have equivalent competitor estimates, IQ datasets, audience, retention, or demographic data. We help validate the hypothesis and execute after the decision.
- Do ASO.dev AI replies run autonomously? No. Monitoring delivers the event automatically, but the user starts batch processing, and an MCP write requires
confirmApply. There is no server-side event-driven autopilot. - Does MCP consume API credits, and can I get 20,000+ keywords? The local MCP does not consume Developer API credits and does not replace bulk export. Pro+ uses Excel for large datasets; 20,000 FoxData rows for one app are conditionally reachable through the paginated REST API.
Final choice
Section titled “Final choice”- FoxData fits strategy, research, and growth teams that need market estimates, audience, retention, ready-made review intelligence, or a REST API for iOS and Android.
- ASO.dev fits a specialist who values broad App Store research, large exports, and execution through App Store Connect and Google Play Console.
- Both products are useful when FoxData contributes a distinctive signal on a narrow scope while ASO.dev operates the broad portfolio and the next release.
If ASO.dev is missing something your workflow needs, share and vote for the idea at feedback.aso.dev, or write to us at hello@aso.dev. A request helps us prioritize, but it does not guarantee a roadmap commitment or delivery date.
